ATU RN Job Description Addition
Telemetry nursing involves care of patients who have recently had a cardiac surgery/procedure or need monitoring due to a cardiac disorder. Because telemetry! readings are crucial to monitoring the health and status of patients, the telemetry nurse has a great deal of responsibility. Telemetry nurses often administer medications that are not usually administered on Medical or Surgical floors. Patients on this unit are stable, but are acutely ill and at risk for a rapid change in status. Tasks that are unique to RNs on ATU versus medical-surgical units include:
1. Care of patients on ventilators
2. Assessing and treating cardiac arrhythmias
3. Knowledge of cardiac medications
Under general supervision, utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, and theoretical/clinical skills in the promotion/maintenance of health. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care rendered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelors degree in nursing preferred
- Healthcare Provider CPR Cert! ification required
- Current Montana and/or Wyoming sta! te license as a registered nurse required
