This is an outstanding opportunity for a pharmaceutical communications professional to join the Switzerland and Austria Corporate Affairs (CA) team. The role Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, Austria covers corporate reputation, employee engagement, patient advocacy and portfolio communications for the Austrian team of BMS. We are looking for a professional who is familiar with the healthcare industry and has a track record of working independently. The role incorporates responsibility for the successful delivery of high profile external and internal communications programs. A critical need of the role is to partner across a complex matrix team of highly skilled individuals.
The role requires experience of paid, earned, owned and shared communications and working with external stakeholders such as patient advocacy groups.
The position reports to the Head of Corporate Affairs CHAT (Switzerland and Austria), who is based in Steinhausen/Switzerland and therefore also offers an opportunity to network with the counterpart in Switzerland and to share and develop ideas and best practices. CHAT is part of the EU Cluster (EUC) markets at BMS and this role will participate in cross EUC Corporate Affairs programmes.
Main responsibilities:
Member of the CHAT Corporate Affairs (CA) Team
Be an active member of the CHAT CA on topics specific to the internal and external environment in Austria and to contribute thinking to the overall direction
Support the development and execution of the communications strategy across corporate reputation, product communications, employee engagement and patient advocacy
Corporate reputation
Aligned to the CHAT commercial strategy execute the Corporate Affairs strategy to build our corporate reputation drawing upon the global company’s framework whilst reflecting local market strengths and needs
Support the Head of CHAT CHAT / Act as a back-up media spokesperson for CHAT
Manage and prepare for issues impacting our reputation in Austria
Ensuring local Corporate Affairs activities comply with company standards of business conducts and ethics, the Science Industries Code of Conduct and legal requirements
Review and track effective measurement for CA Austria
Product communication
Support the top priority product launches through execution of the CHAT integrated communications plan
Support shaping of the local the market access environment (e.g. regulatory milestones) for forthcoming launches (e.g. disease awareness, third party engagement, education)
Employee engagement
Co-develop an internal communications plan, tailored to Austrian associates, own local execution of employee engagement to drive our company mission and culture and support company change initiatives – in agreement with the Head CA CHAT
Patient Advocacy
Partner with local teams including Market Access & Government Affairs to implement an integrated external engagement plan targeted towards patient advocacy organizations, media, and other relevant groups (eg, trade associations, HTA) who influence the public discussion around the environment for optimal therapeutic innovation and market access.
Act as first-line contact person and liaison manager for key patient advocacy groups
Facilitate the inclusion of the patient and caregiver voice among cross-functional projects (e.g. access, medical affairs, employee engagement)
Background:
5-10 years of related communications experience in relevant positions, preferably in the pharmaceutical / biotech sector experience
Well established network of contacts across the external environment including media
Good understanding of the political environment and the ability to translate and interpret
Demonstrated strategic thinking & analytical ability including ability to innovate; good judgement, problem solving & management skills
Discretion when handling sensitive matters
Experience in working for large global organizations, and strong ability to collaborate across the matrix with access, regulatory, medical and legal teams
Commitment to an ethical organization, able to demonstrate BMS values and integrity
Proactivity & high level of personal accountability
Be fluent in German and English.
Self-awareness of working styles and ability to adapt, coach and support others
For this position, a collective agreement minimum salary applies from € 3.102,00 gross per month. An overpayment in line with the market, depending on qualification and experience, is offered.
