The VA Montana Health Care System provides a VA presence in every major city in the state through a series of community based clinics, a community living center, and an acute care medical center.

Fort Harrison (Helena) is a 48-bed acute care, medical-surgical facility that offers a broad range of acute, chronic, and specialized inpatient and outpatient services for both male and female veterans. Specialty care includes internal medicine, gerontology, neurology, dermatology, cardiology, palliative care, pain management, medical oncology, surgery (general, vascular, lap! aroscopic, endoscopic), urology, orthopedics, plastic, ophthal! mology, ENT, podiatry, gynecology, chiropractic care, psychiatry (including outpatient substance abuse treatment and PTSD and MST specific care), and ambulatory care (primary care). Radiology Service provides a broad range of diagnostic and interventional care provided on a full time basis. Pathology Services are available on site also provided on a full time basis. Telemedicine services are available for psychiatry, radiology, gynecology, primary care, ophthalmology and tele-home health. The 24-bed inpatient mental health facility serves patients needing treatment for PTSD, Substance Abuse and Acute Care.

One full time permanent position located in Great Falls, MT at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).

P

osition is in Ambulatory Care, with the VA Montana Health Care System.

Hours of work:
Monday through Friday! .

Applicant's education and length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Professional Standards Board and Compensation Panel in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.

DUTIES:
Seeking full-time board certified Internal Medicine or Family Practice physician for the primary care (PACT) position in Ambulatory Care. The incumbent will deliver services to veterans presenting for health care. Duties will include day-to-day care of veteran patients presenting with ambulatory/primary care appointments. This position may include participation in the provision of telemedicine care to outlying communities as well as occasional travel to other VA clinics within Montana to provide clinical coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
a.

Citizenship.

Citizen of the United States.

(Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)

b.

Education.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education! in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

The degree must have been! obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Approved schools are:
(1)

Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2)

Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3)

Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4)

For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

c.

Licensure and Registration

.

Current, full and unrestricted licen! se to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
