Clinical Informatics Specialist
Location: Missoula Montana
Description: Providence Health & Services is looking of Clinical Informatics Specialist right now, this position will be placed in Montana. Coordinate and monitor the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of clinical informatics applications and projects within the assigned mini! stry/area.
Promote the use of evidence-based clinical practice by participating in, establishing and leading ministry clinical informatics councils and participating in hospital, Regional and Providence Health & Services Clinical Practice Transformation and Performance Improvement councils or other like councils.
Participate in the selection, implementation and adoption of clinical technology to support optimal clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
Coordinate and provide direct support and education to Providence Health & Services clinicians (physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members) in their use of Health System technology including the electronic health record (EHR) and is responsible for ongoing training and competency validation for all clinical information systems as directed.
Incorporate theories, principles, and concepts from appropriate sciences into informatics practice.
Required qualifications fo! r this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in a clin! ical discipline, information technology/informatics, business, management, communications, etc. Minimum of one year of experience in customer service as a liaison, trainer, or a position that had the same or similar primary duties. OR
Associates Degree or Certification in clinical discipline (e.g. nursing, respiratory therapy, medical assistant, surgery technician, pharmacy technician), education, information technology, business administration, or a related healthcare or IS field is required with two years of experience in customer service as a liaison, trainer, or a position that had the same or similar primary duties. OR
Without a college degree, minimum of five years of blended work experience and formal instruction in a position that had the same or similar primary duties as this position.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience with supporting clinician use of an EMR system, with expertise in hospital clinic! al computer applications, especially those used at PH&S
Education or experience in the area of adult learning and/or informatics
One to two years experience in creating, designing, and writing training materials
Project management and/or project team leadership
Change management and process improvement leadership
License/Registration/Certifications
Active license or certification to practice as a clinician is required if applicable. (MD, RN, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Clinical Social Worker, Respiratory Therapist)
Informatics certifications or credentialing is preferred, and may be equivalent for up to 2 years experience for this position at the hiring manager’s discretion.
