POSITION: Physician (Sleep Specialist), VM-0602, VA Montana Health Care System. One, full time permanent position. This position is with the VA Montana Health Care System, Fort Harrison, MT. Hours of work: Monday through Friday. Salary will be determined by a Compensation Panel and will be based on education and experience.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

DUTIES:
Seeking a board certified or board eligible Sleep Specialist to perform the full range of Sleep Medicine procedures. The incumbent is accountable to the Chief, Sleep Medicine, for assuring the most effective delivery of care in Sleep Medicine while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Duties will include but are not limited to: Examination, diagnosis, and treatment and coordination of care of the full range of outpatients seen in the Sleep Medicine Clinic; Interpretation of tests to include polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, maintenance of wakefulness testing, actigraphy, sleep diaries, unattended sleep studies, appropriate radiographic, and laboratory testing when indicated; Provides expert professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional Sleep Medicine health issues; and Applies clinical and administrative knowledge in identification, analysis, and resolution of issues pertaining to the quality of health care in the Sleep Medicine Clinic, providing expert guidance in the treatment of patients with multiple comorbidities unresponsive to prior efforts for chronic disease management as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)

b. Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

c. Licensure and Registration . Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
